I have an O'Day 272 and the 30 gal. water tank is leaking somewhere. Has anyone ever pulled the old one out and installed a new one......? I've been told it's impossible. thank you for the help! Patrick

nothing is impossible

if it is like my 28's water tank It is not too hard. My tank was plastic and under the Starboard setee. I drained it, used a dremel (at first) and cut it up into managable pieces which fit through the setee and then replaced it with a 25 gal. flexible (and winter removable) bladder tank. 1/2 day to cut the old one up and another weekend to plumb the new bladder tank in (with new water pump to head/galley sinks, new hoses, water filter to galley sink)

We fixed the crack

in the Polyethylene tank on my boat. 3M makes the 8005 scotchweld .. Far as i know it's the only stuff that will fix polyeth. The hard part is finding the leak. ck the vent isn't clogged and causing pressure in the tank when you fill it, that's what cracked mine. good luck

try 3M scotchweld

compound #8005 is the only one that will fix Polyethylene. We fixed the tank on my O30 with it. It Cracked from pressure because the vent clogged. good luck

Pat, are you absolutely sure that it is the tank?

A cracked fitting, loose hose clamp, pinched hose, or even a leaking pump could empty your tank in a weekend. This spring, the tank on my 25 emptied twice before I found that the functioning pump was leaking like a... bad pump. It worked but it leaked. It leaked harder when it was on. The rebuild kit was 2/3's the price of anew pump so I opted for the new pump. I would do some testing before I got into to that. However, It couldn't hurt removing it just to clean and inspect it. I did that with my tank three years ago. I hope you find the leak! r.w.landau
