On my Hunter 45CC sailboat (built 2008) the DSC capable radio was not connected to the GPS. I asked an electronic mechanic to connect it what he could. He also upgraded the software for the chart plotter. After that the chartplotter at the nav station and the cockpit did not get a GPS signal anymore. Did anybody have the same problem?

I was told that when the chartplotter at the nav station is shut off directly there the electronic system loses it connections. Does anybody know how to reset the electronic system?

Thanks for any help!

Best wishes,

Viktor

Hard to answer without more info

what brand units?
is the cockpit wired as the repeater station now?
are you the only MMSI number in your DSC radio?
did your electrician try to enter a second owner mmsi number?

What is your GPS source?
Are you using an external antenna?
Are you tied into a data network?

Does the radio have GPS signal now?
if so it sounds like the mechanic switched the GPS signal from the chart plotter to the radio.
If your GPS is sending NMEA then there is no reset. if it is the same manufacturer as the Plotter then RTM to determine what it does.
Also, check that the GPS is turned on and receiving power.

I imagine you have the same Raymarine system I have on my 44DS built 2007. When the chart plotters (Instruments on the DC panel) are powered down, there is no voltage to the GPS. I'm sure that is how the network system was designed.

It looks like the Raymarine display is malfunctioning - was sent in for repair! Will keep you updated!
Thanks a lot!
