Greetings,

First time post here. I am purchasing a 1999 H260. The boat is missing the gin pole and mast crutch. I called Hunter and they can supply the parts but are out right now and it will be at least 3 weeks before they can fabricate them. They are not sure on cost and will "work it up".

I am thinking I can just make the gin pole from a length of pipe and some eye bolts. I thought I saw on here where someone did this and was wondering if the specifications are listed any where. Can't seem to find it now. I would assume the same is true with the mast crutch.

Any help/leads would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rick

You can measure and make your own or have the pieces fabricated yourself without formal specs. Will certainly be way cheaper than what Hunter will charge. Keep in mind the mast end of the gin pole should be cut to wrap around the pole inside the mast. Look in the hole at the base you'll see what I mean.

I am getting measurements from the owner. Hunter quoted 149 for crutch and 89 for the pole. Not too bad but they said at last 3 weeks to manufacture.

One odd thing about this 260 is that it does not have the insert at the bottom front of the mast, it has a squared U bracket with bolt holes for the gin mount. This is not the best picture but you can see the bracket at the bottom front of the mast.

I'd be at a metal shop for a piece of stainless stock the length you need. It has to be real stout, not flimsy railing material. Be absolutely sure when you drill the holes on the Anchor locker end that you do an excellent job on pressing the cable eyes well. Everything depends on that connection.

This should be a pretty easy project. I lost my pole overboard in a storm and paid $100 from Hunter for a new one. I learned my lesson and now it's always attached to something

Gin Pole

I have a 23.5 with a mast raising system but have seen guy's put a choker around the spreader and hook it to the trailer winch. One guy cranks it up and one stableizes it, seems to work pretty good. I would think it would be fine on a 26 ft. Our gin pole is nothing more than a trailer winch anyway. CHEAP!
