missing forestay, Hunter 23

I just acquired a 1986 Hunter 23. It is in excellent condition, in the water, should be ready to sail as soon as I can raise the mast - BUT, the forestay (head stay) is missing. Presumably it got loose during winter storage or during transit from there to its present marina. Any suggestions on finding a replacement are really appreciated.

See a Rigger

The rigger will measure the correct forestay. This is important because an off-the-shelf forestay may still be the wrong size. A rigger will determine this.

Roller furling

Did the boat come with a furler and is it wrapped with the Jib?

Happy Ending

First, thank you both for your timely and good advice. Unfortunately, there is no furler (maybe next season?). I've been trying to track down a rigger (hard to find one nearby to here), when today I noticed it was very low tide, and I figured, what the heck, I might as well poke around with the boat hook in the mud in case the thing fell off right there at the slip. My first pass, I felt what seemed like a cable. A couple of dozen passes later, I was able to snag it and then, hand over hand, pull it out of the Hudson. It cleaned up fine, and it seems to be complete. I am one happy camper tonight! Thanks again! Eric
