Does anyone know how to set up the jib sheets on a 1977 Mirage 24? I noticed there are no tracks so I am assuming snatch blocks are being used. Were jib cars and tracks never installed on these boats?

My M-27 doesn't have track, I just use blocks on the toe rail, but others have installed track. I would only do so if you are going to race.

If the boat has an aluminum toe rail designed for snatch blocks I suggest you use it.

Yes, toe rail is the only option at the moment. Might still go with the tracks just 'cause I like to do this sort of thing. Curious that tracks weren't a part of the original design.

Food for thought....I have a Mirage 25 and if your's if like mine, its a cored deck....Installing a track on both side would entail drilling holes thru that deck...make sure she is well bedded with sealant if you do or you could be creating a scenario for deck delamination. Personally, I would use the toe rails with snatch blocks....just my thoughts

Adjustable genoa cars are the ONLY way you're ever going to get proper sail trim. Just a few inches forward or back are going to make an enormous difference in the trim of your head sail. Of course, if you've never had them you just don't know what you are missing.

I agree, you won't get great sail trim with snatch blocks on the rail. The Mirage 25 has tracks installed on it from the factory, and I took it one step further and moved the twin mainsheets from the cabin top to the cockpit on a windward traveller to get better performance, what a difference.
