Round up for Comfort
We have a '76 25 C/B and we won't take her anywhere thinner than 4 feet, and that's under duress. A small wake from a passing boat may cause the boat to bob up and down 3 to 4 inches. Then you get the trough and then you hit the bottom. So, 4 feet of water, board up, 10 inch wake from inconsiderate passing stinkpotter and you are looking at 3 feet 2 inches in trough with 4 inch bob and the rudder is suddenly supporting the boat. I know my math isn't exact, or neccesarily scientific, but the wake from a passing stinkpot can never be underestimated. There is nothing more upsetting than that shivering feeling the boat and you get when it is abruptly dropped on a hard object. Gudgeons are designed to hang rudders on, not boats. So, even though the specs might say 2 feet 3, board up and 6 down, I hate to leave it anywhere where there will be less than 4 feet, even at moon tides. Geof
