I need to remove the mildew smell from my boat cushions. Vinegar works great for mildew in laudry, would a diluted spray help with the cushions? Does anyone have any tricks?

mildew smell remover

I have a friend who is into renovating Hotels and says this is what they use. Round-Up, yes, the stuff you use to kill weeds with. A 41% Glysphosate (sp) solution sprayed on the material will remove the mildew and the smell and not harm the fabric. Mixed 2oz. to the gallon of water. The main ingredient is some sort of salt, which percipitates moisture out of the air and kills the mildew. Let it dry and dust off with a brush. He swears this works, try a test swath and see. This is what they used in South Florida for all the rooms that had water damage from 2005's record hurricane season. Good Luck !

Mr MegaBoat person…

Please have your friend list all the hotels that he has renovated so that we can avoid them – at all costs. We use a product from Clorox called “Clean Up”. I makes the moldmildew disappear – and shouldn’t leave you with a mysterious rash on the back of your legs.

We too have had excellent results with clorox clean up . I would be very cautious about using a herbicide( even diluted ) on something I was going to spend any time sitting on , good luck Mike
