Good afternoon all,

I am surprised to see all of the name calling, flaming, and off topic posting going on... in August... a time when we of all people should be very happy.

So allow me to post a quick reminder about forum policy:

- This site is designed to be novice-friendly, so new sailors should be treated with patience and respect.

- Name calling, flaming, trolling, and other bad behavior is not permitted. Violators will receive a dishonorable discharge.

- Posts not directly related to sailing should be posted in the Sails Call Lounge, not in the sailing forums.

- Meta discussions (forum discussions about forum discussions -- like this one) usually end with hard feelings and should be kept to a minimum.

Anyway, we should all be out having fun -- or at least complaining about the humidity
-- not griping at each other in a forum. Save that for February.

Thank you for your cooperation.

You go Phil!

And a reminder to all that the "tone" of an electronic posting is always subject to interpretation and misinterpretation...more often the later. When in doubt about the tone of a response, the best decision is probably to wait a day, read it again and then reply.

Phil, I aways miss the good post that cause the problem

because they get deleted. Maybe you could have a special area fpr rejected post where only people that except a disclaimer can entry. You know like an R rated section.

I agree with BobM, a lot of post get misinterpretation and escalate into a problem. The fun is reading them and seeing how and who cause the problem.

Um, Jim, have you looked for all your old posts?

The thread you ask about is over on the 'Sails Call Lounge' forum. It started out as a 'Meta' thread (thread about the forum) and ended up with me telling a couple of off topic jokes. The jokes were good but Phil got busy and it is now over there.
BTW, Jim, methinks you ought to learn some grammar and a little English and you definitely should lay off of Ross. What is it about his curmudgeonly, know-it-all attitude that makes you harass him? At least he knows how to spell (most of the time) and usually has good input. Regrettably, I can't say the same for you.
Best of luck.

CalebD, so I did see the posts?

good, I miss out on a lot of them because I am on the boat sailing on the weeklends. I know there are some trouble makers (I might be considered one of them) but I like your posts. You are a man with honor.

We need a section rated R for restructed with a disclaimer.
