HI All,

It's really exciting reading about all the activity and planning
surrounding the NW Rendezvous at Port Browning the first weekend in
July. It now appears that Laura and I will be there to join the fun
and we are looking forward to meeting all of you who will be
attending. Unfortunately, Bree will be staying home to keep an eye on
Lealea.

Time to bring you all up to date on the event we have planned in
Hawaii:

Dates: August 17,18 and 19 2001
Place: Nawiliwili Boat Harbor, Kauai, Hawaii and vicinity
Planned activities (So Far):
Racing, the casual fun kind, possibly to Hanalei Bay on Saturday -
Crews needed on local boats.
Luau - the kind they only do on Kauai with Hawaiian entertainment and
local style food (All diets are hereby suspended)- Sunday evening
Discretionary activities: Hey, this is Hawaii! the whole state is a
resort. Bring your golf clubs, hiking shoes, mountain bike, tennis
rackets, whatever, but don't forget the sunblock!

I am meeting with the Board of Directors of Nawiliwili Yacht Club on
Tuesday to begin the process of putting the details together so there
will be more next week.

There will be two or three boats sailing over to Kauai from Oahu and
there may be crew berths on one or two of them. For anyone who wants
to fly in, there are direct flights into Lihue or island hops from
Honolulu. If you need help with accomodations let me know.

For anyone thinking of sailing over, I believe that Nawiliwili is a
port of entry but I'll double check and let you know. It would be
three or four weeks sailing time from the left coast so you would
have time to get here from Port Browning after Brian's event if your
up for it. The locals tell me that there will most likely be slips
available and surely anchorage at Nawiliwili because many local boats
go to Hanalei that time of year to anchor in the bay. We may do the
same. This is of course a major ocean passage so be well prepared. I
recommend that you consult a good cruising guide (I have found
Charlie's Charts of Hawaii an excellent aid)and aquire proper charts
of the Hawaiian Islands. It would be really great if we could get a
few mainland Vegas to Hawaii for this event.

Anyone who wants to attend please let me know as early as possible
and I'll give you all the help I can.

Aloha,

Chuck Rose
