I have a 1993 35.5 legend and want to install a microwave under the nav table. Has anyone had experience in doing this. I understand you can by a "space saver" microwave from GE that is designed to attach under wall cabinets in the kitchen. I would like to take that same concept and attach it under the nav table. Any advice?

If you already have one......

try getting some stainless steel banding. It is what is often used to hold down fuel tanks. You could form a couple bands to the shape of the microwave and leave a good bit extra to drill holes for fastening. With something as heavy as (some anyway) microwaves, you may need to use a backing plate and through bolt the bands through the nav table. I am assuming you have storage in your nav table, so the backing plates would be inside the storage area. If you just have a single layer wood nav table this obviously wouldn't be a good idea. I hope this works or sparks a new idea for you.

Why?

Why would you not put the M/W between the two cabinets in front of the hull port. It fits in there perfectly and can be vented by opening the port just above it. Remember, you will have steam coming from the M/W when cooking.

did it on 290 due to no other choice...

...no other room to put it and it fits nice and discrete. if i used the nav table alot this wouldn't work, but its a catch all more than anything else on the 290. wiring the MW outlet to the separate breaker was real easy due to the elect panel is right above nav table. can use padeyes and black rubber straps. either way, need to create a gap above the MW for ventilation
