Micron Extra Longevity????

Last Spring I decided to do the bottom paint strip down repaint routine. I repainted with Interlux Micron Extra. The ads say it's a multi-season paint. I would assume they're talking about average fouling conditions. I keep my boat in the Thames river in New London. Anybody who knows the river knows how prone to "sliming" boat bottoms get there. To add to the mix, I decided to keep the boat in the water through the winter (but not in the Thames). Oh yeah, the instructions call for two coats, I think I put three on. Anyway, the question is, has anyone had similar experience with this paint and these conditions? I'm wondering what the bottom will look like when it gets hauled for a cleaning in another month or two. Should I be budgeting for another couple of coats of paint? Thanks

I use Micron CSC on my H240. I keep my boat on the Chesapeake Bay. I use two coats and get two seasons easly. With three coats you should be fine for two seasons. When you haul you will probably have slim, but will rinse of with a garden house. The first time I used CSC I changed the bottom color from the blue to green. I have used this product for 4 years and have been very happy. I have not used the Micron Extra, but if it works and good or better you cant go wrong. Plus you'll never have to sand again. A good power wash every two years and two new coats. Hope this helps.

Sean is correct

I used the Micron extra 2 years ago and the bottom looks great. no sanding and 2 new coats will do before haul out at end of 2004

Micron

Ernie; I have been using Micron on my 1984 H31 since I bought her new in June 1984. It started as Micron 25, then Micron 33, then Micron csc, and now Micron extra. No matter what they change the name to, I have enjoyed using it as it performs as advertised. I apply a new coat every two years and all I have ever done is pressure wash off the slime. I used to moor the boat in the Fraser river but now it stays in saltwater all year. Never have had any barnacles grow on the bottom, only slime which usually sloughs off with a good sail or motor. Thanks guys, I had a feeling there probably wasn't anything to worry about. I just wanted to hear it from actual users. Happy Sailing! Spring is almost here!!
