Miami boat show is predominantly a catamaran show. The shoreside tents for sailing hardware is pretty good.

I was extremely busy, no time for browsing. I was struck by the number of empty slips, over a dozen!
My thoughts on the Miami Boat Show, strictly sail. Lots of impressive Cats, I wanted to see an Italia 13.98, 12.98, , they had a 9.98 that was raced hard...Would've like to see J-boats like the 109, didn't spend much time at show, The Bene's had a full selection, Bavaria 42 Vision looked cozy, and the twin helms flat exit trend, leaves lots of room in the back of a boat. I don't know why I go to shows, I'm not in the market for a new boat, I love my old Cal 33 & it is paid for, but I have a problem...I enjoy looking at other boats, drives my wife crazy.

William it's addiction. We have it. No cure or known effective treatment. No 12 step programs. Best you can do is go to sea . You'll be removed from the temptation and have time to think to dream to recognize that pretty new toys belong on the dock not out on the oceans.
Yes, on the up side. New boats give ideas of refinishing old boats. Flush hatches, new flooring styles, interior decor, built in port screens, galley sink covers, upgraded stoves, newer sails, ect. Some upgrades are interesting, some might even be worthwhile...or doable, I guess if you want to know...you gotta go.

Most likely reason for some folks not returning. When funds get tight marketing looks for ways to cut corners. Shows are a big expense.

it was at marine stadium? right? (key biscayne), or, on miami beach? (I think only the real big yachts were at M.Beach?).
Did anyone take the water taxi? and how bad was traffic getting off the key? cost for food/drinks? (I'm not a vendor)

We just went to the Strictly Sail show at Bayfront. Good attendance, but not enough smaller boats. Lots of 40' plus on display from many vendors. Met a lot of good people, and had a great time.
