Messenger Line

Replacing the swing keel control line on my Bayliner Buccaneer 180. It connects to the bulkhead via a spliced thimble, runs thru two blocks (including one on the top of the swing keel) before entering the cockpit via a hole just forward of the trunk. I plan on removing the thimble end from the bulkhead, cutting the line and the attaching the tag end of the new line to the severed end of the existing line. Next is to pull it through the blocks and out the hole, reattaching the thimble end to the bulkhead.

I've never done this before and am looking for advice on what to avoid or look out for. Don't want to think about fishing the line through of the messenger method fails!

Thanks
