MERRIMAN-Yacht Specialties Pedestal Parts

Several years back, the plastic control mounting section of my old Merriman pedestal broke. I found a cast aluminum replacement that someone had made. It may have come from Doc Freeman in Seattle. I understand that they are out of business. Does anyone know where to get parts and/or who bought the Merriman parts that “Doc” had??
I know this has been beat around a bit, but I was curious if there was any new info??

No more parts

There are no more parts available. HMP (Holland Marine Products) in Canada is willing to cast new shifter plates for re-sale if a customer is willing to send in an old one as a template. I would have sent mine up there but it broke mid season.

I repaired it with Devcon Plastic Welder, 1" fiberglass tape, Dremel and sand paper. It's still working fine. I painted the finished side with Krylon Fusion but left he underside raw in case it breaks again.

If you are hauling out for the winter call HMP and see if they are still interested in casting a replacement.

I just found a new cast aluminum replacement from a private party.

I bought it thinking a shifter problem was caused by the typical breaking of this part. It turned out it was just the inner cable near the transmission.

I would have no problem sending my new unit to someone willing to cast replacements. In fact, I would be willing to pay for a few units to keep on hand for fellow orphans (sell at cost) if there is a need.

I had the same problem on my Legend 37 September of 2007. The PO made a repair on the shifter tab with epoxy and glass, but it didn't stand the test of time. I purchased a new cast aluminum head that was machined perfectly. I picked it up from Constance Machine in Everett, WA. Phone number is 425-347-8920. It took some time to get it because he was waiting for a few more orders to come in so he could make the minimum pour.

The control head will come polished with bushings for the throttle and shifter. It is bare, so you will need to paint. I dropped mine off at a local shop for a quick powder coat. It is solid and a perfect match.

OUTSTANDING.. Thanks guys!.. Brice, I'll give those guys a shout. My unit with the aluminum replacement is fine, my neighbor's Alleman 34 just broke. We did a plastic/epox/fiberglass fix but I am not sure it will last too long.. Thanks again for the info, Guys !
