My Mermaid A/C w/heat (4 months old)was left on for 3 weeks in Humidity mode. I returned with it shut off, and the High Pressure icon showing. The strainer was clogged, I cleaned it. Now the water pump surges, and after an hour or so it now goes to Lo pressure and shuts off. I disconnected the water hose and water freely flows thru the seacock. Any other suggestions? Thank you, Marc

hammer

Marc, I own a Jeep in addition to my Beneteau. When something breaks or stops working on the Jeep, I just pound on it with a really big hammer for a while. Doesn't always fix it but I usually feel better. Honestly, I have no idea on your problem. I'd suggest getting a professional to work on it but that will likely cost you $500 and it'll still not work right afterwards. So,,,,,,,,keep looking at it. You'll figure it out. Try contacting the manufacturer. Or take up another hobby.!?!!!!!!!!! Regards, Fraser

Disconnected where?

Did you bleed the air by detaching at the unit? And did you have full flow at that point? If it runs an hour before "Low Pressure" that is all that I can think of. Could there be something that gets sucked up against the thru-hull when the pump is running. I assume the hoses and water-strainer are clear. I would suggest that you call them but I see that my web address(http://dterm.com/mmair/) no longer works. And I had no luck finding their new address?!

Did you check the pump impeller?

Marc, If the strainer was clogged there is a good chance that you burned up the impeller. That would also explain the surging. I'd check that first. Good luck, PM

Call Factory

Mermaid A/C/reverse cycle heat units are great and so is factory support. Give 'em a call. They know their stuff and since this sounds maybe like a warranty item, don't touch your unit yourself, else you might void the warranty.

CONDENSATOR CLEANED?

Hello Marc, I installed a Mermaid M5 AC unit on my Hunter 260. I noticed that you checked the pump and strainer. Did you check the "Condensator" on the discharge side of the unit. If this is not cleaned it can cause a back up and cause a high pressure scenario. I hope this helps. Sail On! Clay Thaxton

Thank you all...

(except that hammer wielding sailor), the strainer had a airlock, after loosening it to let the air out, the pump finally built up pressure and kept it. Thank you for your suggestions, MArc

Thanx for the resolution.

Another thing to file away. Wish everyone would post their fixes, but most do I think. Trick after 60 is remembering them! :)
