I have a Merury Sail Power 102cc with an alternator plug. It appears as though there is not current being produced to charge the battery. Does any one know the fix or how I should determine if the alternator is working. The inline fuse is ok. Thanks

Scott, Hook up a multi meter and see if it is

supplying current at about 14 to 14.5 volt at 3/4 to full throttle. The battery will be at 12.5 so if you read higher it is working. Ray S/V Speedy

How did you determine that "there is not current being produced to charge the battery"? If you are basing that on the state of the battery maybe you are expecting too much. It takes quite a bit of running time to charge a dead battery with the output from most small outboards. I would check it with a multimeter as was already suggested. If it is putting out the appropriate voltage the perhaps you have another problem. Maybe you are just using more than you are producing. Or maybe you have something that is draining the battery when you think everything is off. If you provide more details may someone can give more advice. Pete
