Has anyone else seen this? 2000 vintage Mercury 15HP twin cylinder two-stroke with OEM (supplied with engien) Quicksilver 6 gallon tank. Engine started running rough, poorly, or quitting under load, about two years ago. Suspected dirty carb, fuel hose, etc. No permananet fix. One symptom - pump bulb never really got firm, like it used to. While debugging git last weekend, I removed the hose from the engine and pumped the bulb. It STILL didn't get firm, and I heard a gushing sound from the tank. Took the fuel valve assembly off the tank. The pickup tube nearly fell off the nipple at the top! A fellow boated dinghied over, and asked what I was up to, and it turns out he had the same problem. I fashioned a clamp, and used some Teflon tape, and it's better, but still not right. It's not possible to get enough clamp pressure to seal without crushing the plastic nipple. Anyone heard of this one? Any solutions, other than buying a new tank? Thanks, jv

Ethanol Subsidy

Sound like the ethanol damages the tube. it dissolves plastic. It takes more Btus to make gallon of the stuff than is contained in a gallon. The Agribiz Corn lobby makes the pirates of old seem like kids. We taxpayers subside the stuff at 51 cents per gallon.
