I have a twenty year old Mercury 9.9 that came with a Catalina 27 that I just purchased. There is a black and a red wire coming out of the motor. Does anyone know which is positive and which is negative? The black is marked "A" and the red is marked "B". Thanks.

only in your original post the alternator wires were black and white. All things being equal, please refer to my earlier response to your question. However, I am wondering if you need confirmation that you do indeed have the two alternator wires. Unfortunately, I cannot do that.
