With all the shiny new stuff this week we also have a very welcome change on the moderation front: Two long-time and frequent site users are going to work with me to moderate the forums.

Brian Dhttp://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/member.php?u=8, owner of Takara, a Lancer 27PS, and veteran of 1,341 posts on this board will be joining me.

I'm also especially pleased to have Maine Sail onboard. Maine has been around the site since 2000, racking up 1,483 posts. He found us when he owned a Catalina and now sails a Canadian Seacraft 36T.

Both of these guys will be working to keep the place free of flames, spam, trolls, and of course, the dreaded boats for sale. :)

More importantly, they're also well versed in the new site and available to help you find your way around. They were quite involved in the development and testing. A good way to contact any of us is in the Site Talk forum.

You'll probably see them around more than me for a while, as we have a very full agenda for the next few months:

First, after getting this new site settled down, we'll be preparing the results of the Sailboat Owners' Survey. It is fascinating! We have well over 5,000 surveys collected and amazing input on all popular production boats. Be prepared to spend some serious time pouring over the results. I think the product of the survey will be truly unique and valuable.

But, that's for later. Right now please join me in welcoming Brian D and Maine Sail as new site moderators!

I agree that both Brian and Maine will make excellent mods

I especially like MaineSails sticky that appears in every forum about posting enough information to make an educated reply. Brian has also helped me navigate the ebb and flow of the new website changes.
All I can say is good luck and congrats guys because I am already the owner of the Tartan 27' group on Yahoo and I know what it takes to keep things running 'smoothly' and we only have 150+ members. At least at SBO poor Phil is the ultimate moderator so perhaps you guys (Brain and Main) can go on vacations now and then.
Over and out.

Mainesail and Brian have always been voices of reason here and I applaud their acceptance of this responsibility. The Sticky posts have been long needed.
Thank you both for your work and dedication to this site.

gods are on your side Phil for you to be able to get their help and assistance. I can't think of many others here that will put forth as much effort to keep the site clean and professional. Like others have noticed, I too especially like seeing the "stickies" that MS has posted and have already put them to good use. The more that I am looking around here, the more I am finding how much better it is.

Sorry to see some others don't like it as much, but that is expected since we as humans like being in our comfort zone and reject change every time it happens.

The new site is remarkable, Thanks so much again  to all three of you for your work and efforts. I am sure that there are others as well that have worked and help to pull this off and I applaude their contributions additionally,
Tom

Thanks Phil

for all of your work on this site. The new site looks great and your choice of moderators was excellent. I have long been a fan of Brian and Mainesail and cannot imagine a better choice to run the site at least now that Roger is not around anymore. ;-).

I'm looking forward to Mainesail publishing a book with all of the great information he has shared on this forum.
