The medicine cabinet in the head of my '87 Catalina 30 has horizontal sliding doors made of a mirrored plexiglass (?). The handle on one end of the R sliding door broke off and a 2" jagged piece of the mirror broke off with it. The Admiral says I must get this fixed, but I can't figure out how to get the broken piece out and more importantly, I can't figure out how to get a new piece in. Usually on sliding doors there is a place where the door will just lift and tip out, but I can't find any such place here. Do I have to dismantle the wood trim carrying the tracks? If so, how do I get the trim off?

Medicine cabinet

I am able to remove my medicine cabinet sliding doors by first removing the one on the inner track by lifting up at both ends, then tilt the lower end in toward the back of the cabinet. The top edge should now be facing you and you can pull it out. You shouldn't have to remove the trim. You can either make one from plexiglass and use only one side for a mirror, or call Catalina Yachts customer service toll free. They may still have replacement parts kicking around. If you haven't joined the C27 Yahoo Group, there is a wealth of knowledge there as well.
