dustin... re: Crew list
This forum may not be the best source of info for what you guys have in mind. However, your question intrigued me. After all, what sailor hasn't wanted to pick up and sail off across the sea to some exotic place. Here is a suggested strategy to find your ride.(I'm sure you've done a lot of these things already or you wouldn't have found this forum but maybe there's something you haven't thought of)First, scour the library and bookstores for anything related to crewing or cruising.Second, run a google search. I just ran one with "crew list sailing yachting" and found a number of resources. Check them all out and start corresponding.Third, learn to sail!Fourth, learn to be a good crew. you can do this by getting on some crew lists at the local yacht clubs and sailng publications. Take a cruising class at the local college or sailing school. Read some books on being a good crewmate.Fifth, inventory any skills you have that make you an more valuable crewmate, such as first aid, mechanics, cooking, entertaining, language, etc. Also... make a very detailed personality assessment... know yourself. Sixth, Advertise yourself. Let everyone down at the yacht club or marine store know that you are looking for a ride. Get your name on internet crew lists. Respond to all "skippers looking for crew" ads. In SoCal the local rag is called Santana, in the SF Bay area I think it's called Latitude 38..... Hey... have a good time... I envy your spirit of adventure.
