MD6A oil changes and temperature

Hello,

How often do you change oil in your MD6A engines ?
According to the manual it is 50 hours (oil)
and 100 hours (oil filter).
But I suppose 30 years ago oils were different.
A general suggestion on Volvo Penta www
pages is 100 hours (oil + oil filter).
But I suppose thay speak about newer engines...

It is just sligthly more than 50 hours of engine
running since I bought "Lotta"...

One worrying symptom with this engine is that
after some time of running at maximum speed,
the temperature gauge shows more than 100 degrees C.
Is that normal ?

Sorry if such questions were asked/answered many times.
I am sitting in a marina (Leba, Polish Baltic coast),
waiting for a better weather, have a poor internet
connection and can not really browse the archive.

Hi Marcin

The oil should be chabged every 50 hours or once a season whatever comes
first.

The temperature should not be that hot. I expect you have a blocked exhaust
manifold. These are easy to take off and clean. Four bolts holding it onto
the engine. Be careful with teh gasket as tehy are expensive. Clean all the
cooling channels very thoroughlly and you will notice the difference.
