I still have the MD6A, Combi and outdrive, that I removed from
Whisper when I re-powered.

The combi was just rebuilt, the shaft and control tube are brand new.
In fact, I have an extra brand new control tube as well.
The engine has low compression on the number two cylinder and was
caughing out black soot before it gave up the ghost for good.

I don't know how salvageable it may be but various other parts, were
working and should still be ok.

I'm in North Carolina, USA and I'm not too interested in crating
this thing up and shipping it, but if anyone wants to pick it up,
it's yours for the taking.

I had thought that I might tear down the Volvo just for the learning
experience, but nah...who has the time?

Hi! I would very much like to give your engine a good
home.I have been looking for a "project" Vega since I
retired 2 years ago. There was one on ebay this
spring, but I lost her at the last minute. It did not
have an engine. I am still negotiating for another
engineless Vega, but the guy went off sailing and I
have not heard from him in over a month. So,I would
very much like the chance to overhaul a motor, since
sooner or later I will get an Albin Vega. Then I could
work on it over a winter or two to get her back as
close to the original condition as possible
I've been sailing since I was 10, have a 20 footer
designed by Lyle Hess, but I really want a Vega.

Emil,
I have posted a picture of the engine and parts that I have in the
photos section. FYI

It's an MD6A, Dynastart, alternator, combi transmission, Flywheel,
Waterlift muffler, drive shaft, feathering prop, 2 new control
tubes, voltage regulator, throttle/pitch control, and sterngland. I
tried to save every little part when I took them out of the Vega,
but no guarantee that I didn't lose some small odds or ends along
the way. I imagine Steve Birch could supply any bits that end up
missing. I also have the original control panel, I think, but could
not find it last night for the photo.

Certainly it would be a good collection of spares for a vega owner
with the original power set-up. Or a good start toward re-powering a
project boat.

Hi,
Sorry I did not get back earlier. My back went out and
could barely move.I'm on the mend and think that I
could manage a long trip.This Fri-Sat-Sunday I'm
free. What would be a good time for you?If this time is
not suitable,I can do it about Aug.20-th.Let me know
the day and the time of day that would be
suitable, would not like to upset any good sailing
plans.I will probably drive a VW Jetta, has large
trunk, and the back seats fold down.I have an old pick
up,but it only does 8
miles to a gallon,so I'm hoping the VW will do.
Thanks,Emil.

Emil,
I replied off list but didn't answer your question about the day.

Saturday would be best for me, any time. I assume you'll be making
the trip over two days? Maybe you could come friday and load up on
saturday? We have a guest room you'd be welcome to stay in on
Friday night or, if you would rather, there are plenty of hotels
nearby. We get home around 6pm on Friday.

Let me know what works best for you.
