Has anyone out there come up with a reasonable method of raising and lowering the rudders from inside the boat. Perhaps the new Mac 26 system? Or a home made system? Any help would be appreciated.

MAC 19 Rudder retraction system

On my Mac 19 'WINDFALL' I drilled out to 7/16" all holes used to pin rudders down. Then I cut 3/8" dowels 4", sharpened one end and taped elastic band loop to other and dipped in epoxy. I drilled 1/4" holes in top corner of rudders' trailing edges, tied 1/8" line though holes and run them though Harken #243 Upright lead bocks installed 2" above vent holes on transom. From there lines lead to Ronstan junior clamcleats #115667 mounted on inboard facing parts of transom 1" below stripe then to "Tee" handles. To remove/install pins, crouch on swim platform/ladder and use right hand on port pin then (with OB down and stopped) step right foot on starboard anti-cavitation plate or hydrofoil (better) and use right hand to remove/install starboard pin. Pull "Tee" handles to retract rudders.
