Hello All, I have an odd question. I'm looking at buying an '82 Catalina 22 swing keel. The guy who currently owns it said it is the racing version, so it does not have any life lines or the stern pulpit. My wife really likes the idea of having a stern pulpit and lifelines. I found the stanchions on the Catalina website, so they're covered, but is a stern pulpit for the C22 available anywhere? Thanks, Ben

Do you really want to?

When I first bought my C-22 many years ago I also thought I wanted life lines. The more I talked to other sailors with similar size boats I had second thoughts. I'm now glad I didn't put the life lines on because they often interfere with easy movement to the foredeck because of the limited space between the side of the cabin and the life line supports. Many of my friends call lifelines "trip wires". Just a thought. If you do decide to get them the Catilina Direct folks are great to work with.

Thanks!

Thanks Frank and Michael. Frank, I see you live in Durham. I used to live in Raleigh and would sail my Capri 14.2 at Falls Lake. I wish I was still down there. I'd love to be sailing on Kerr Lake. Ben

Grat sailing!

Hay Ben' Buy the swing keel and come on down. Falls and Jorden have way to meany stinkboats and wave racers. I like to go to Lake Gaston. It seams to always have wind. We like to sail out of Orinetal. Great Sailboat town. We also enjoy sailing to Bald Head Inland, with the swing keel you can go up the creek at high tide and moor for free. So hook it up and come on down. Frank
