Maybe A Crazy Idea But....

I was looking at my 23.5 trailer and had an idea for using it to paint the bottom of the boat. How would it work to put longer uprights on the trialer to hold up the bunks seems like two or three feet longer would be enough to be able to get under the boat to paint and to drop the centerboard. Or maybe add removable ones that are taller.

Not sure I follow you, but...

...One way to get under the damn thing is to back up the trailer on those portable steel ramps we used to use to change the oil in the car. Makes it much more accessible and you can drop the centerboard. You won't be able to paint under the boards, but doesn't matter. Be sure to block the car wheels to ensure the boat won't slip.

You Can't Drop the Centerboard

There is about 4 or 5 inches between the center board and the bunk. Removing the bunk does not help either as the trailer frame and axel are in the way.

How about jacking up the trailer with the boat on it, then stands under the boat, then lower trailer.

Oh and 8-10$ a foot

Jack h23.5

I did mine in the driveway...

I jacked the rear of the trailer up in the air with two hydralic floor jacks then place a stand under the stern. Then lowered the trailer back down. moved the jack forward and raised the front of the trailer then put a stand under the hull and dropped the trailer back down. I then removed both trailer tires and dropped the trailer to the ground. That gave me enough room to paint the bottom and if I wanted to, I could have dropped the board. After I painted the bottom I jacked up the trailer, removed the stands and lowered the
it all down. I could then touch up where the stands were. I made the stands with a couple of 2x6 and a couple of 2x4 and a box of nails. I made the stands temporary since I have no place to store them. Through the wood into the landfill afterwards.

Not Needed This Time

Pulled the boat and all of the growth is just around the edges. I just need to touch up the paint so I do not need to get it off the trailer everything I need to paint I can get to on the trailer.

I found a can of Interlux bottom paint in the clearance bin at WM for $40 so I may get off cheap for the next year maybe two. The one tough spot is going to be the leading edge of the centerboard I was thinking about putting some bottom paint in a spray bottle anyone else try this any reason it will not work?
