We're fairly recent owners of a 2001 model 310 (hull #111) having upgraded from a 1996 270. Like others, the rope only capstan on the Maxwell VC500 winch wasn't ideal, so I've just purchased a new VW500 to fit in its place. As per a previous thread, the upgrade kit is no longer available and worse still Maxwell in NZ have discontinued production of the 500 series and there is no stock left in either NZ or Australia. So our winch came from the helpful people at Marine Warehouse in Miami. If you're still out there doctorsail, did you ever get around to writing that article for Mainsheet magazine on the tricks to make the VC to VW changeover easier?
