My (new to me) 1994 33.5 is only showing 2.5 knots when motoring at 2000rpm. Is this right or is the knotmeter off...it has been acting up since a recent haul out. What is the recommended cruise rpms with the two blade prop and what should I expect in terms of knots?

My guess is you have a bad one.

Walt: My guess is that your knot meter has one of the legs of the pick up that is bad. I have the same problem on an old Navico 200 Knot meter. It has one of the pick ups that went south. So I only read 1/2 of the actual speed. If you have a GPS you can do some approx est. to see if this is the case. This reading seems like it would be about 50% of the actual. If you get upto 3.0-3.5 @ 2800-3000 I think that you could assume that this is a correct ASSUMPTION.

I had the same problem after a haulout. The yard hit the paddle wheel with the travel lift straps and bent the axle which the paddle wheel spins. I was able to order/purchase a new axle ($5) and replaced it this spring. Everything now works fine.
