Hunter 29.5 Aylmer, PQ near Ottawa
Hi, I am about ready to order a new furling tri-radial Dacron Jib for my hunter 29.5 1995. I need to know what are the max measurements (J,I,foot and LP) or Maximum per-centage that will fit on the boat without modifications to the track an no interference with the mast stays. One quote puts it at 115% and on an other they say they can go to 130%... ? Help ! Mario Canada

BS you can do a 150

BUT SURE you can do a 150 if you add genoa tracks to the cockpit coaming. (you will want the aft/spinaker winches too) I have sold the boat but previously owned a 29.5 that came from Hunter with a 150 Genoa. Pics are on this website (see link). If the link does not work do a search in photo forum under 29.5 and you should find the pictures. http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/display.tpl?folder=Falls73043556223&fno=17

Mario, As you know, the 29.5 has outboard shrouds which will interfere with a larger jib, especially if you want to point. You may only be able to go for the 115% if it is a full hoist sail. Check out yor old jib on a windless day. Crank it in and see how close the leach comes to the spreaders. That should give you a good idea for how much larger you could go. A 150 will work for reaching if you run the sheets outboard, but you will not point with the Catalinas. PAC
