According to the Hunter specs, the P42 (Yanmar) should have a 18X14 3-blade prop. I have a 3-blade 17" Max Prop. Would appreciate any advice as to how much pitch I should use for this prop.
The pitch should be that which allows you to reach 3600 rpm. The local Yanmar service agent told me this a year ago when I was having my engine serviced. We were discussing props and he said I should go out on a calm day and see if the engine could reach 3600rpm. If not, it was over-pitched and could cause excesive strain on the engine.
Dear Rudi,Thank you for your letter. We would suggest that you set the pitch to 26 degrees. This pitch was calculated from the information, which you have provided. Please feel free to call me with any questions. 800-523-7558Sincerely, Kevin L. Woody
