Since I had the opportunity to sail the prototype and many more after that, here are my thoughts. First, the 20 hp idea is "NUTS" plus the outboard motor bracket is not rated for that. Maximum is 5 hp but a 4 hp will do fine in all types of weather and seas whether on a lake, sound or ocean. As for the Nissan 4 hp, first it is actually built by Tohatsu and that is my suggested motor. As for the problem with the motor by one author, it does not tell me what is going on. If the motor does not run very well, then take the carburetor off and completely clean it as it is probably gummed up and the flow thru the jets has been cut off. Solution for that is to let the fuel run out of the carburetor by letting the engine run until there is no more fuel. Whether 2 or 4 stoke, gas is an oil by product and will gumm up any carb if gas is left for long periods of time in the carb particulay during winter.
