Hello out there. Does anyone know about/have experience with a Max anchor. They're made somewhere in the SE - Mississippi I think. I've sold two Kingsprits to people with Max anchors. Both said the anchor wouldn't fit the sprit. One person kept the Kingsprit and returned the Max. The other person kept the Max and returned the Kingsprit. I've seen their literature and if it's half as good as they say, it sounds like a good anchor. I've never seen one and would like to hear from anyone who knows about them. Tim King

I have used a SuperMax anchor as my primary anchor for 2 years with a Fortress as a backup. I've been very happy with it in general. The SuperMax varies from the Max in that the angle of attack the anchor makes with the bottom can be adjusted for sand or mud. It is an excellent plow type anchor and holds great in sand or fairly well in mud. It does not dig in well over thick grassy bottoms at all. We've dragged around quite a bit trying to get ours to set over grassy bottoms. There is some concavity to the plow so that it "fills up"with sand or mud after it sets, tending to make it dig in well. My next anchor may be a Spade anchor, which has a larger concavity as well as a sharp chisel point to hopefully penetrate grass better. Overall, the SuperMax has been a very satisfactory anchor. They are made , I believe, by Crative Marine Products in Vicksburg, Miss. Chris Webb s/v Grand Cru II

I like my Super Max

I have a Super Max as my primary anchor with a Bruce and Dansforth as backups. I've had two boats rafted togather in 50 foot of water and the Max was the only anchor out. All anchors have their good and bad points, but the Max has far more good points then bad one's. I'll keep mine. You can get a look at it as well as some anchoring stories by going to www.creativemarine.com click on their catalog section, find the anchors and there you have it. Tom

for grassy bottom make mine a delta.

I have found that the Delta is probably the BEST anchor for grass/weeds. Very pointed so it penetrates quickly and easily. Also reasonably priced too. I would assume that a CQR would have the same quality in these conditions.
