An owner of a 260 Hunter was going to work on his boat but due to job and not enough time to work on replacing the centerboard cascade or centerboard line necessitating the removal of that centerboard, I called the marina workshop and spoke with the mechanic advising him what to do. This fellow was unaware of the owners manuals for different boats and lines that are on file under the boat information relating to the specific brand. He was looking as we spoke and he was very grateful. Just a thought for those who go to a yard to get their boats worked on and your repairman will be ever so grateful.

Good point, Dave. When our boat was being surveyed, I gave the surveyor a LOT of C34-specific material I had gotten off the 'net. This was in 1998!!! He was grateful, and looked "harder" at some areas that he'd read about - good news, nothing to find! We bought the boat. :)

Dave,

I agree with you & Stu.

Let me just say that especially in the boat service industry, not all players are equal. It comes down to who do you TRUST. After all, it's you paying the big bucks so, you NEED the right people doing the work.

You know me, I take these people to task. Remember the adage, "Buyer beware." I find that fellow boaters can mainly be the best point of reference for qualified help. If you have to send a manual to someone, he is usually NOT the guy you want to perform the work.
