I am planning a trip to Maui with my wife in the spring. We would like to charter a sail boat for a few hours. Any tips or recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hawaiian charter

The Hawaiian waters are demanding, hence bareboat charter is almost nonexistent. Most charters are crewed and limited to day sails. You might consider a Hawaiian sailing canoe day sail.

Bareboat tough to find

I had same experience Could not find bareboat charter Did do a half day sail with a captain and once out i essentially did the sailing with him there Was yrs ago do not have a referral for you must say sailing down a wave in a 38 foot boat was really neat Not in the Chesapeake Bay playbook If you can get out pay a guy and do it t

There used to be a H54 that day sailed out of Maaleae harbor a few year back, but don't know if they are still there. I found out about them just walking the dock looking at the boats and met the owners. Didn't have a chance to go out. They love to sail and don't go out just to motor around. It's one of those I'll use any excuse to go sailing group of guys. It wasn't a wine - sunset cruise. At Lahaina, there are some sailboats that go to watch whales and will sometimes sail, but don't count on it. We went out on the Americas Cup 2 and it was a drinking contest by the younger crowd onboard. It was a very tired boat. We will be staying Kihei for two weeks starting Mar 2. Jim S/V Java
