MastMate anyone??

We are looking for a 35' or better used mast mate (mastmate) climbing rig. If anyone has any knowledge of where there may be one for sale, please let us know :dance:

Mast Mate

You might want to try one first. I recently borrowed one from a friend of mine to do some topside stuff. Didn't like it at all. Felt very uncomfortable on it. Friend I borrowed it from loves it, but I feel much more secure in a bosuns chair. Others seem to like them also, so maybe it's just my twisted brain that doesn't feel secure, but if you can find someone with one, give it a try before you buy.

Thanks for the great replies. Yes I will keep looking in ebay (that's where I found the one I was interested in, only to see it get bought right while I was watching, for $150!).
Anyway, I plan on using it with a climbing harness & bosun's chair combo (my current mast climbing rig), so as to reduce the amount of manpower (and the skill thereof), so that my helper is there just to tie me off when I reach the height I want, and release when I'm ready to come down.

If you're looking to keep the load off your helper, you might consider the ATN Topclimber. I liked the idea but thought it pricy so I picked up Petzl ascenders from ebay, a bosun chair from I forget where, and onrope1 supplied the foot loops and the static line to climb (saves wear and tear on your halyard from the ascenders). It works well for me. My helper only has to keep tesnion on the extra safety line, helped by a few turns on a winch, cleat it when I've arrived, and reverse when I'm done.
