masthead sheaves

I need an exploded view of what the masthead and sheaves look like. I tried to thread a new halyard by making a butt-joint between the old and new but it came apart as I tried to pull it thru the sheaves. Old fell - new stuck up there - furling jib so no extra halyard for hoisting bosun chair - Any thoughts / advice?

If you rolled out and dropped your jib you could use your jib halyard couldn't you? Other than that I'm stumped!

Thanks for the thought - Any thoughts on getting up there other than a 40' ladder?
