I just saw the movie last night.(finally) Fantastic! Having toured the USS Constitution last fall I recognized many features of the ships in the movie. The heavy weather scenes of going "around the horn" were awesome. Anyone here been out in seas like that? Was this an accurate depiction?

Haven't seen the movie but...

.. I've been in some huge seas. Worst was a big North Atlantic storm that would curl your eyebrows. Fortunatly I was on the QE but 50' seas are really scary even on the QE. About 1/2 the crew even got sick. We were kicked around like a toy in a bathtub.

I also was on the QE II in an April '94 trip from South Hampton to NY. I thought the winter storms were over!?. They had closed circuit TV in the cabin and you could lay in bed and watch the waves crashing over the bow in between trips to the head...it was like "Victory at Sea" all over again. The dining rooms were strangely quiet for a few days. Ahhh, the joys of cruising the Atlantic...
