I have a problem with the mast wiring. I believe it is the connector at the bottom of the mast. Has anyone cut an access opening near the bottom of the mast for wiring repairs? I would cut a rectangular hole with rounded corners and make a stainless cover plate. Any suggestions on size or location? Gerry Bogert Two Drifters

Had same problems with my H31. As aggravating as it is, I think droping the mast may be more helpful in the long run. You can check all the wiring connections, which run through the deck plate, rebed the deck plate which can be a serious source of leaks, and do a good total rigging check on your mast while it is down; lights, bulbs, wind vanes, wire connections, lubricating sheves, etc. If you replace everything around the mast plate neatly, heat shrink wiring connections, you should be OK for seveal years. Hope this helps.

It's Been Done

See the link below. It's associated to Epitomes website. He has pics #88 & #100 showing what he has done to help w/ your issue, not to mention several other projects he has done to upgrade his boat. Very professionally done. Even though it is not an H31, many items he has improved are related to your boat. I hope this helps you. Robert
