I am installing new wireing and antenna inside the mast. Any sugestions on how to hang the wire bundel inside the mast, and also stop it from slaping inside the mast.

I replaced the antenna cable inside the mast five years ago and at the same time rewired the mast light. A dock mate suggested that I wrap the bundle with wire ties about every 2'. Make sure that the tail is long enough that it pushes against the interior of the mast and the bundle will not slap the inside of the mast. It has not interfered with the halyards at all. I step the mast every season and am able to inspect for problems. Haven't had any. The plastic holds up well inside without any uv deterioration. I did this alone, but it would help if someone else were to pull the messenger while you tied the bundle and fed it into the mast.

A second vote for wire ties.

I just redid the mast electrics on my boat and did the wire tie trick as well. Its a whole lot easier than trying to use foam. On my boat, the compression tube between the spreaders made life interesting whilst pulling.While I was at it, I also replaced the light fixtures. I used a Davis anchor light that claims to draw only .07 amps. Nice for those of us without inboards to charge our battery banks.Justin - O'day Owner's Web
