I am having issue with understanding the mast wiring. The mast head and streaming lights work but the deck light does not. I have checked the bulbs (ohm meter) and they're fine. In checking the wiring on the four pin connector, I have two grounds - one is the larger diameter contact and the other is one of the smaller terminals. In tracing the wiring back to the fuse box, there are two leads terminating to the negative buss bar. So, I can't imagine that there would be the need for two negative leads for the mast. If anyone has a wiring diagram or assist in the correct wiring, please let me know! Also, if anyone could provide me the recommended fuse size for these circuits (mast head, anchor and running), I'd appreciate that too

Thanks!

Some times they will use wiring that has two colors on it.They are used for power and as a negative. It depends on how it is wired. Example: Mast light wire should be brown if it is brown and white it will be used as both. Now that same brown and white wire maybe the negative wire for the anchor light. So if the mast light is on the anchor light will not work.

Thanks for the responses! The ground wire is white while the other three are brown, yellow and WHITE! See my confusion?

No problem. We have all been there and help each other out when we can. Do it yourself is really the only way with most sailboat repairs. I paid once, because I was in a bind for time and I paid for it alright! Not looking forward to doing my mast re-wire, but it is definitely in the cards as I need to drop my mast for a host of other reasons...fix mast blocking under the sole...replace the rest of the standing rigging...and perhaps recore under the mast step....yeesh.
