I'm curious about the 3/8" rod through the top of the mast, holding the cap shroud tangs: It's threaded on both ends with a nut, and the bolt is peened to prevent the nut coming off.

The tangs, like the rest of the rig, only have 5/16" pins, whereas the wire shrouds have 3/8" eyes. (grumble grumble ... for my solution to this problem see my latest post at HugeDomains.com - SinTacha.com is for sale (Sin Tacha) )
Does someone know if this rod passes through a tube inside the mast? I'd hate to hear it clanging down inside the mast if I draw the rod out, which might happen if I decide to replace the tangs.Peter
