Does anyone have a diagram or drawings on a mast tabernacle? I have a Cat 30 and need to step the mast without a crane. I am looking for specs. or plans to make one. If you do can you fax or e-mail them? 801-794-2070 fax Wwinger@aol.com e-mail Thanks, Ron

tabernaculared mast

I have a 36 Catalina tall rig with a tabernacular mast. I sail S F Bay where the winds are quite often 30 + mph. I do experience some weather helm at 24 knots and have to reef. The mast set up is superb. It was done first class. It allows the boat to use the inner harbor @ Santa Cruz Ca.The boat came that way so I don't have first hand knowledge of who did it, but if you call O'Niell yachts in Santa Cruze, they can probably advise you on how to get it done like mine. I can give you more info if you like---jsails@castles.com Gary

Tabernacled Mast

Ron, We just completed tabernacling our 30 for use in Mission Bay, Ca. Not too tough a project. The key is getting the measurements right. I had Northstar Propeller (Believe it or not)(619) 239-8309 in San Diego build the base and do the Mast Modifications. We did the rigging modifications ourselves. Northstar did great work and was much cheaper than the other rigging company in San Diego. I will fax the prints you will need to build the hardware. Good luck.
