Mast Support Damage

HI ALL, and happy sailling.I recently purchased a 28' Oday. In the interior i noticed that some of the wood dividers (that dont seem to offer any support structurally to the vessel) are a bit mangled by the blocks that the mast supports are fastened to. What to do? whats the Problem? How do i fix it? do i need to? is my boat still safe?? not any cracking or visible damage on the deck or in cabin other than wooden things messed up around fastened blocks....thanks for any help as always!!!Key Wester

what?

Do you mean the wooden bulkhead that seperates the boat amidship? And do you mean the metal plates (chainplates) that protrude up through the deck the stays attach to above the deck that hold up the mast? If so, and the wood is mangled and the metal plates are not securly, and I mean securly, fastened to the wood, you run the risk of your mast failing in heavy wind. I would worry.

bulkheads?

yeah they hold your mast up and the center supports some of the weight of the mast. needs to be fixed.gene
