Any one have the ball joint at the top of the mast strut blow out on them? We were racing in brisk conditions last weekend and the port mast strut decided to give way as we were rounding the windward mark. The ball joint actually split open. We may have had a bad tune job this spring?

Bent all-thread...
I had the all-thread bent between the ball-joint and the strut on my 356. It was replaced with a 4" piece form a 3' section ordered from McMaster-Carr for about $20. (I actually bought something for a sailboat that was under $100, and I have spare left over! What a concept!) I have a fair amount of bend in my mast, but I don't know why it bent. It hasn't shown any problems since. I suspect it might have been dropped on it's end at one point and had a slight bend induced. The pressure of the rigging just finished the job. Steve
