Archives Have Much Info

David, if you have the factory set-up, which include triangular plates on the shrouds, and secondary, lower mast/boom attachment mount you are good to go using the boom as the righting/lowering arm. Go to the yahoo o'day club website, join and access the photo forum for a posted diagram. If you email me with a fax # I will send you a copy. If you don't have this option, you could have a rigger remake your shrouds and you can buy the plates from west marine, or any rigging loft can get them and then you can raise/lower your mast using this system. There are other ways, and the archived info. will lead you to a couple alternatives. I am using an A-frame method, borrowed from a Catalina 25 owners web-site (you will find the link posted by Ben Allen), and Rick from Salem has used an ladder to assist (his post is there too). If you have a couple of friends you can easily muscle the mast up. I have done it with one male friend and a third to unwrap any tangled stays and make sure the turnbuckles don't bind. The mast weighs about 70lbs or so. It seems daunting but its quite doable. The trouble is trying to find friends ready to go when you are. Don

O'day 25 Mast Raise

Dave, Go into the Photo Forum and near the bottom click on O'day 25 Mast Raise. Open the photo and you will see a drawing of the system (crude but effective) that I use. Rick

Oday suggested Raising

I was reading the informations a few weeks ago for my O'day 25 with a 26 rig. They suggest that you use the main sheet with the boom attached to the gooseneck and the mast hanging over the bow. Connect the Main sheet to the boom and the Toping Lift to the boom, you can then use the main sheet to pull up the mast. Be careful not twist the shrouds. EJ
