Took the mast down over the weekend. Getting ready for haul out and winter layup.

Thanks, works like a charm. Saves me $500/yr doing it myself.
Nicely done!

Is the mast base something custom with a hinge?

How many guys do you need to get her down and secured?

I had a custom tabernacle hinge made up based on the classic design. The only help I have is the wife.

This part of the rig is critical. Once the mast is down it will rest on this. I use the winch mounted on it to crank the mast back over the boat.

I have cables attached to each side of the boom that keep it straight. No problem at all, it comes down straight as an arrow right over the bow support. I also leave the upper (loosened) and lower stays attached as well. It takes less than a minute for it to come down. Usually about 2 - 3 minutes to crank it up (I'm getting old).
