mast step/o-day 23

Mast step sags on my o-day 23 tempest.Has anyone else experianced this problem?Can't fully tune rig,each time i do, step sags more,and i lose tune.I have beefed up compresion post,buy enlarging it and framing in opening.Does not solve problem.Anyone have ideas on repairing step.

Need to reinforce the deck

Jeff -Either the deck between the step and the post is rotten or the post is being driven into the hull. Either way you need to reinforce whichever it is.I would start by pulling the mast step up and using a dremel to cut away a square of fibreglass. Remove any nasty core, fill with thicken epoxy, fair, drill new holes and put the step back.Justin - O'day Owners' Web
