I seem to be having a slight drip coming down the outside of my compression post. I tried a search and all are to do with water coming through the wiring bundle which mine is not. The drain holes inside the mast step are clear. I suspect it might be seeping through the plate mounting screws. Before I try to remove these screws to reseal them, I was wondering if anyone knows if they are screws with a nut on the bottom or just large wood screws. There is no way to get at any nuts in between the deck and the inner liner. This is on a 1996 280.

Use BedIT butyl to seal it. Cheaper, better and longer life in this application than caulks. Even 4200 dries out after a decade or two

Mine actually has a stainless steel tube welded to the SS base plate. No plastic. I originally thought water was getting in through that tube until I saw it was welded in. My thought is water is getting in through those screws. Might have to wait until winter when mast is unstepped .

Thanks. I know the hole in the front of the plate. Never checked that one. I'll have a look.
