Mast "Stay" corrosion

Just this past week we paid for a "rust cleaning" of all mast stays. The boat is a 2004, bought new and commissioned last November, 2005. The local dealer service rep suggested that this rust was due to "aircraft fuel debris" from the nearby LAX airport. In other words, the residue was creating rust in the summer months when there was little rain to "wash down" the mast stays. Others (non Hunter related local seasoned sailers) suggest that this is a "line" and the real culptrit is Hunter's use of cheaper cable from overseas. Anyone else experiencing this, and do I need to accept this, considering this boat is less than 2 years old? I look forward to opinions from my fellow Hunter owners.

Greasy oily stays

i think i agree with the dealer. i just moved my boat from San Diego (real close to the airport) to Newport and while in san diego, during the dry season the stays get filthy. It appears to be only an oily dirt and little bit of "flash rust" on the stainless braid.
