Hi All: I will be leaving Sandusky, OH this summer, and transiting the canal on my way to the Bahamas. Normally, I would plan to carry my mast with me, but, recently have thought abought shipping it instead. Searches on the web have yielded no results for Mast Shipping. I suppose any carrier will agree to ship, but I am interested in a carrier that specializes, or semi specializes in mast shipping. Anyone have any experience with shipping vs carrying your mast ? Thanks...... Jeff

interesting

Interesting, as I have wondered if this could become a small business venture for an individual. Once per week between Tonwanda and Albany, with a few stops along the way. Have a drop off at location at each end.

Carry it

I made this trip last year. I also have a background in trucking. I don't think it is cost effective to ship it by truck. You will still have to pay for stepping & unsteping the mast and most likely a cost to put it on a truck. Than there is the trucking cost. I did not find that having the mast on my deck was any problem on the canal. My boat is at the RCR yard in Buffalo & I strongly recommend them. The job they did preping my mast was first class. If you get this way let me know & I will provide any help I can. Contact me off site if you would like answers to any questions. We left Buffalo and finished in Charleston, SC. CDickhut2@aol.com
